...represents a genuine alternative to standard housing development. Here, occupants can decide for themselves how, with whom, and where they wish to live, meaning that the future residents are also investors and thus decision-makers.
This provides an opportunity to turn one’s private budget into the best possible quality of living. In the new district of Aspern, the lake city of Vienna, there are a few interesting lots available for cohousing. We are currently designing a seven-story apartment building for the JAspern cohousing group, based on a sustainable model for stress-free living and working they developed themselves. The focal points are sustainable design, a cultural and culinary program in the ground floor Jaspern Salon, a penthouse salon open to all residents for relaxation, large-scale urban gardening, and common-area roof terraces with a view of the surroundings. A large bicycle storage area provides space for four bikes per dwelling unit, as well as a supplementary workshop, are essential amenities supporting alternative mobility. The plus-energy standard has already been researched for the building and will also be included in the program if financially feasible.
