New E+E Headquarters Building
First prize of invited general contractor competition
Passive house design, plus-energy concept with operational waste heat recovery, mobility model
The client’s vision was that of an office building with rational resource and energy use that sends a contemporary signal through its authentic and distinctive corporate architecture.
The structure includes an integrated intelligent building concept that ensures its occupants transparency into their energy consumption as well as opportunities to influence it.
This call to construct a flagship project for energy efficiency and sustainability in equilibrium with bountiful user comfort is fulfilled by pos architects’ office building design, which makes it possible to experience the different moods of the days and seasons, a contributing factor to employee satisfaction and wellbeing.
Rotating façade panels make it clear from the outside that the building lives and breathes the climate and the seasons. They provide perfect shading while preserving natural light and maintaining an open view. This prevents overheating in summer – while avoiding the use of expensive and architecturally undesired sun protection glazing.
The plus energy concept stipulates, among other points, the use of waste heat and cooling arriving from building operations. In addition to this, a mobility model has also been designed. The saved energy from reduced mobility and grey energy from building construction and maintenance are included in the overall energy balance sheet.
